What is diplomatic immunity? Diplomatic immunity is a form of legal immunity which generally makes diplomats immune from being arrested, searched or prosecuted under a country’s laws. Immunity granted to diplomats by the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961 is a privilege given by independent states who allow diplomats from foreign states to enter their own territory.
